What is Direct Cremation?
Direct Cremation is simple, respectful and affordable. It is also increasingly common, representing almost half of all cremations in Australia.
The body of the deceased is transported directly from the place of death to the crematorium for cremation as soon as possible after the relevant doctors' cremation certificates have been issued.
Our Direct Cremation Process :
- you contact us when the person is nearing death or has died
- we arrange transfer to the crematorium as soon as practical
- we meet with you at a convenient time and place to make the arrangements
- we complete all the necessary paperwork and apply for the Death Certificate on your behalf
- the ashes are returned to you within about 10 days
Direct Cremations are also known as N.S.N.A. arrangements which is short for No Service No Attendance.
While all the processes and preparation are completed as soon as possible, everything is conducted with the utmost dignity and care; not only for the deceased, but also for the people left behind.
Direct Cremation generally does not include dressing or viewing of the deceased, but it is no problem to add these elements. Just be sure to tell us your wishes as soon as possible.
One of the great benefits of a Direct Cremation is that it gives you time and flexibility.
The cremation is completed soon after death and with this arrangement completed you are then free to arrange a Memorial Service or Celebration of Life (if you wish to do so) at any time.
This extra time is often welcomed by family and friends who want to attend, but need that little bit of flexibility to get themselves organised.
Some families will hold a full memorial service, others will host a lunch or picnic, or even just a simple walk on the beach to scatter the ashes.
